Anthony Jones, Dartford insurance broker, ceases trading

Anthony Jones Insurance Brokers, the commercial and personal insurance broker based at Crossways Business Park, has ceased trading. A notice on the firm’s own website states plainly that “Anthony Jones Insurance Brokers has now ceased trading”, and a fuller statement on the same site says the company “is facing financial difficulties and has instructed Duncan Beat and Nicholas Simmonds of Quantuma Advisory Limited to assist with placing the Company into Creditors Voluntary Liquidation”. The firm is the trading name of Anthony Jones (U.K.) Limited, company number 01784409, which has been on the register since 19 January 1984, more than four decades. Its registered office is Corinthian House, Galleon Boulevard, Crossways, Dartford DA2 6QE, and its recorded trade is the activities of insurance agents and brokers. Two formal proceedings, two dates

A notice entered on the official public record on 5 August convened a virtual meeting of the company’s creditors for 11am today, Tuesday 11 August. The meeting was called by Jason Crotty, a director of the company, with a shareholders’ meeting held first to consider a resolution for voluntary winding up. Creditors had to lodge a proof of their debt by 4pm on the business day before the meeting to vote at it. The notice names Duncan Beat (IP number 8161) and Nicholas Simmonds (IP number 9570) of Quantuma Advisory Limited as the insolvency practitioners qualified to act, with enquiries to Abigail Bundy on 02380 821 865. Separately, His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs presented a petition to wind the company up on 7 July 2026. That petition, advertised on 7 August, is listed to be heard at the High Court in the Rolls Building, Fetter Lane, London, at 10.30am on 19 August 2026, under court number CR-2026-005309. One thing to be plain about: the Companies House register still shows the company’s status as active today. Registers lag behind events. The Gazette notices and the firm’s own published statement are the formal record, and that is what this report rests on.

What it means for you

If your home, motor or business insurance was arranged through Anthony Jones, your policy itself is a contract with the insurer that underwrote it, not with the broker. The firm’s website tells customers: “Please contact your broker as advised in the email we sent you recently.” If you are unsure whether your cover is in place, or you have a renewal or claim in progress, contact the insurer named on your policy documents directly rather than waiting. The firm’s footer records that it is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, so the regulator’s usual protections around client money apply to how the liquidation is handled.

If the company owes you money, the practical step is to contact Quantuma Advisory Limited, the firm named in the creditors’ meeting notice, rather than the company itself. Creditors who want to be heard on the HMRC petition have until 4pm on 18 August to give notice of their intention to appear at the 19 August hearing.
